Raising Your Vibration
By Wendy De Rosa, July 2009
You know those people whose presence glows with light and possibility? Nothing seems to burden them. They seem to have opportunities and good fortune everywhere they turn. Then you look at yourself. You compare - except that the comparison seems to absorb your light into their reflection.
You see, that person’s kind of glow is a high vibrational frequency that actually can exist within all of us. No matter how fortunate or unfortunate your experiences have been, you have the ability to raise your vibration, change a moment and have a different experience of life.
If you feel a tinge of envy, resistance, or curiosity after watching people operate in a high vibration, know this: you have the same potential. Your interior life simply may be blocked or overwhelmed with struggles, frustration, pain and worry. In fact, you might have unconsciously attracted these people into your day because you have the same desire for such potential. Yet you may need to be reminded how to live from that inner light instead of from the present sufferings. So instead of envying their light, you will be able to courageously elevate your vibration so as to match (and perhaps exceed) their light. You may now see what it feels like to experience an elevated vibration. In other words, their example has inspired and has taught you.
I believe people who resonate at a higher frequency are more in alignment with their inner joy. They have tapped into a core understanding that life has essential and positive possibilities. They have raised their vibration!
Now, energy has two levels of vibration: lower frequency vibrations express anger, fear and greed but higher vibrations emanate love, peace, generosity and joy. We are complex human beings in that we carry within ourselves at any given moment our past history. Our reactions to present situations are often influenced by past experiences. However, whether or not our past was filled with difficulty or with ease, it is still natural to seek the joy that exists within our soul when it is most connected to universal flow. This joy is difficult to penetrate for it may be camouflaged by our sufferings and our attachment to them.
In my experience, we often are riveted to negative thoughts that create sufferings. These thoughts may continually infuse your day-to-day thinking so that you never realize that they create sufferings. Take this thought, for example: “I have so much to do today, I don’t know how I’m going to get it all done.” This thought is actually creating suffering. It implies that the body is in a state of stress due to too many strings or attachments. If this is a perpetual thought, then perhaps it is necessary to analyze why you are packing so much into one day. Shifting schedules, delegating tasks, or evaluating the importance of the tasks could relieve this suffering. The excuses I’ve heard in relation to any of these solutions range from “But I can’t shift my schedule because then I’ll let someone down” or “If I don’t do it, nothing will get done.” You have convinced yourself, through inner dialogue, that you have lightened your load when actually you are fearful and guilt-ridden----so voila! Your spiral downward to useless sufferings has begun. Ideally, humanity seeks happiness. Yet, we are engorged by self-punishment so as to keep us from the discovery of that true inner joy.
What would it be like to get out of the suffering spiral and simply elevate your vibration? I have always believed that the Divine places signs and messages before us every day. We have a choice to see them as blessings or not. If this perspective were true, what would it feel like to have tea or coffee with a person, who is happy, pain-free, successful, and so unconditionally supportive of you? If you do not have that person in your life, why not attract that person into your life? How? You become that person.
Here’s how: Accept that there is a higher vibrational frequency of living. It includes thinking positively and appreciating your life and everyone in it- friends and enemies. Then close your eyes and imagine that this cargo of your sufferings is being loaded onto a barge and floating out to sea. (How about throwing the really heavy baggage off a cliff?) Now imagine that your body is separated at the waist by a northern and southern hemisphere. The southern hemisphere holds islands of fear, resentment, anger and hatred. Let us call that your suffering spiral. The northern hemisphere encompasses the horizones of love, joy, generosity, illumination and truth. I will refer to these as your higher frequency. Now feel your feet on the ground. Visualize the suffering spiral escaping your body and falling down a long tube into the center of the earth. Breathe deeply as you do this. It may take ten minutes or more for the energy to clear. Then feel the higher frequency energy pour down into the space where the sufferings used to be. Simultaneously, your body pulsates with a glow of light. Your feet are still grounded, but the illumination from your heart also emanates to the lower half of your body. Fill yourself up with golden light! Feel it radiate in all directions - just like that person you met who glows with opportunities.
Examine next how you treat the people you know. Do you complain to them? Do you commiserate with their sufferings? Do you need them to talk to you about your problems? Notice if your relationship has been built on keeping sufferings alive. Choose more higher frequency ways of relating to others. For example, tell them you love and appreciate them; choose to do more fun activities in your own life or with others; see the goodness in others’ efforts even if you have been disappointed by their actions in the past. Remember, you can only do this life once, and we all have the ability to change our thoughts in order to raise our frequencies.
Another way of raising vibrations is to let go of the people, addictions, toxins and negative habits that are keeping you in a lower frequency. Sometimes, it takes eliminating these major attachments and enduring the process it takes to unravel from this kind of suffering spiral (which may include therapies or outside support). Choose to surround yourself with happier people and joyful experiences and allow them to teach you how to transform into their reflection. Sometimes the Divine sends us messages and signs that help us to grow and to persevere on our path. As you bask in the light and positivity that these people radiate, know that you have attracted them into your life because you also have sparked an interior light.
Raising your vibration may be a process in itself. Experiencing your own light shows that your soul is evolving. That is a part of spiritual growth. Any time that you are growing and healing raises your vibration; you then become filled with light.
I have offered these suggestions so as to support this process. Know, however, that it is only a piece of the process of healing your sufferings. We can learn from the light that shows up in the people around us. Know that you embody this light, and be thankful for your ability to change your thoughts, change your mind and raise your vibration to the joy of your own true nature.
